BP Gulf Coast Investigation Announcement
The Government Accountability
Project has announced an investigation
to document any workplace violations
by BP and BP subcontractors that pose
a substantial threat to public health
and safety. Workers or residents who
have been adversely impacted are
encouraged to come forward at this time.

Feinberg Denies All BP Disaster Health Related
Claims
The Gulf Coast Claims Facility has denied
all claims seeking compensation for
illnesses related to toxic exposure
from the BP oil drilling disaster. To

White House Receives Blueprint For Bringing
Gulf of Mexico Back to Health
Conservation groups working across the Gulf region
have sent a strategic plan to the White House tha
t outlines restoring the region’s threatened natural
systems and for helping communities that rely on
the Gulf for survival. The groups delivered their recommendations to the Presidential Task Force
on Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration. You can

Creature Feature: Sand Dollar With all of the talk these
days about money for Gulf
recovery, what better
creature to feature than
the Sand Dollar? This species
of echinoid belonging to the
order Clypeasteroida is actually
a dark color when alive and are
covered with short dark spines that look almost like fur.

Gulf Islands Tar Globs Persist
Barrier islands on the Gulf coast continue to show
troubling signs. Take, for example, Deer Island in
the Mississippi Sound where just this week
fishermen reported submerged tar mats in
2-3 feet of water as well as onshore. BP
declared Deer Island 'clean' back in May
with the approval of state and federal agencies. |
Texans Feel Winds Of Change
With searing temperatures causing
increased demands and strain to
the electrical grid in Texas, wind
turbines along the Texas Gulf coast
are lauded by state officials
for helping to provide much needed relief.
