For everyone who’s unaware, Hillary Clinton just thumbed her nose in the face of progressives. Despite MoveOn being the nation’s largest progressive organization, Clinton refused to participate in their online forum, after months of hard-core pandering to progressives. The only sensible conclusion is the one drawn in the attached article: Clinton feels her political machine has strong-armed enough endorsers and superdelegates that she has the election in the bag, so it’s time to show her REAL attitude toward progressives. In Rahm Emanuel’s incisive if unspeakably crude words: that we’re “fucking retards.”
And progressives ARE, if we trust Clinton’s lying words and can’t read her contradictory actions. Clearly, she’s not even waiting for the election to “triangulate” us progressives. Assuming all we require is coddling words—as if we were infants with IQs comparable to our age—Clinton has ALREADY shown her triangulating intent: she’s spoken against TPP while categorically refusing to actually lobby against it and, despite saying she “takes a back seat to no one” as a progressive, she just delivered one of the most hawkish speeches imaginable to the Council on Foreign Relations. If progressives AREN’T “fucking retards,” we must take Clinton’s snub of MoveOn’s online forum as Clinton’s DEFINTIVE expression of contempt for all we stand for.
The problem is, we have NO real alternative to Clinton in the Democratic Party: wonderful as Bernie Sanders is, he’s an UNWANTED outsider whom even the most progressive Dems have rudely cold-shouldered. Outside of Congressmen Raul Grijalva and Keith Ellison—two ultra-courageous exceptions—ZERO Democrats have dared risk the Clintons’ vengeful wrath (well documented in the “Hot Air” article) by endorsing Bernie, not even fabled “bold progressives” Elizabeth Warren and Alan Grayson. Clearly today’s Democratic Party is Hillary Clinton’s party—and it’s a “party” to which Sanders-supporting progressives are NOT invited.
With Clinton so blatantly contemptuous of progressives—and with spineless “progressive” Dems rushing to board the Clinton bandwagon—progressives must make support for Bernie Sanders Democrats’ last chance. That such an anti-progressive as Clinton can dominate the Democratic Party should tell progressives we have no home there. That’s why I support the #BernieOrBust pledge—and in its most radical reading: that if Bernie’s not nominated, his supporters should vote GREEN. Here’s the article that was my last straw:
