Senator Boxer: Celebrating Earth Day

April 18, 2011
Dear Friend:

As we celebrate Earth Day this week, it is outrageous that our environment and the laws designed to protect it are under attack.  Two weeks ago, House Republicans tried to attach provisions to the budget agreement that would have repealed public health protections in our landmark environmental laws.  We stopped those efforts.

As Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, I also led the successful fight to defend the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act by defeating those anti-environmental provisions on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why my Republican colleagues want to threaten the air we breathe and the water we drink.  Why would we want to destroy public health safeguards that prevent premature deaths, children's asthma attacks, and emergency room visits?  Why would we want to eliminate protections that ensure our drinking water is safe from harmful toxins?  Leading public health organizations joined me in defending our landmark environmental laws that have protected children and families for the past four decades, and we all must remain vigilant.

Although we successfully defeated GOP demands to repeal laws that safeguard the air we breathe and water we drink, we must brace for more battles ahead.  When Congress established a national Earth Day in 1970, it was a bipartisan response to what was widely viewed as an environmental emergency.

During the 1960s, air pollution had caused many communities to cancel recess for school children and triggered air and lung problems for countless people.  Contaminated tap water often caused disease outbreaks and exposed people to cancer-causing chemicals.  In 1969, the Cuyahoga River in Ohio was so polluted, it actually caught on fire.

The first Earth Day helped to spur a flurry of legislation to address these problems.  Congress passed the Clean Air Act in 1970, the Clean Water Act in 1972, and the Safe Drinking Water Act in 1974.  All of these bills were enacted with broad bipartisan support and signed by a Republican President, Richard Nixon.  Although much work remains to be done, these landmark laws have made a tremendous difference in our environment and public health.

On Earth Day and every day, you can count on me to keep fighting to protect our environment and the health and safety of all Americans.
Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

So It's LIke This.....

California has a Clean Air Act (CAA), which became law in 1988.... The CAA regulates what can & cannot be spewed in our air.  The law is enforced by California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Air Quality Management Department (AQMD).

The CAA, is more stringent than its Federal EPA counterpart....

Now here's some things to ponder:

The CAA is being threatened by Valero/Tesoro Oil Company.  They have a processing plant in Wilmington, CA (that's close to LAX) and they have been cited many times recently for unclean emissions (those over the legal limit of pollutants) that they purposefully spew into the air.  The CEO of Valero, some cowboy in TX, has proposed a ballot initiative for this coming November's 2010 election.  This initiative would in effect ameliorate the CAA as we know it and allow Valero/Tesoro to spew as much toxic waste into our air as they so desire.

When the CEO of Valero/Tesoro was approached about this, his comment was to the effect of: "I have a business to run and profits to make...which is more important that the air quality in CA."

More information can be found on this @ CREEDO.

So, then I have another thought (you didn't really believe me to be finished)....  When I consider the CAA, I wonder where the use of chemtrails fits in.  Chemtrails (NOT to be confused with contrails) are a form of toxic weather modification emissions spewed above many states including but not limited to: CA, UT, NV, & AZ.

"What's the difference between a jet contrail and a chemtrail? According to the U.S. Air Force, jet contrails form above 33,000 feet when hot engine exhaust momentarily condenses ice crystals into pencil-thin vapor trails that quickly vanish like the wake behind a boat.

Chemtrails (CTs) look like contrails initially, but are much thicker, extend across the sky and are often laid down in varying patterns of Xs, tick-tack-toe grids, cross-hatched and parallel lines. Instead of quickly dissipating, chemtrails expand and drip feathers and mare s tails. In 30 minutes or less, they open into wispy formations which join together, forming a thin white veil or a "fake cirrus-type cloud" that persists for hours."

Chemtrails can consist of a combination of toxins in aerosol form:
Laboratory examination of those chemicals found that they were manufacturing wastes from military industry and biowarfare substances. In several laboratory analyses, the composition of chemtrails was revealed:
1. Aluminum barium
2. Aluminum Oxide
3. Bacilli and Molds

4. Pseudomonas Aeruginosa
5. Pseudomonas Florescens
6. Bacilli Amyloliquefaciens
7. Streptomyces
8. Enterobacteriaceae
9. Serratia Marcscens
10. Human white Blood Cells-A restrictor enzyme used in research labs to snip and combine DNA
11. Enterobacter Cloacal
12. Other Bacilli and other toxic molds capable of producing heart disease and meningitis as well as acute upper respiratory and gastrointestinal distress.
13. Carcinogen Zinc Cadmium Sulfide.

In the past year the use of Chemtrails over the Angeles National Forest have more than doubled.  The County of Los Angeles BOS has approved the use of "weather modification" methods and has a publication housed at its Libraries explaining & defending the use of these poisons in the air. You can view the PDF document @:
dpw.lacounty.gov/wrd/cloudseeding/cloud_seeding_draft_mnd_final.pdf

What I want to know is why the state of CA allows the spewing of chemtrails but prohibits other noxious & toxic air pollutants?

I want to know why, when I e-mail Brad Sherman, Barbara Boxer, or Diane Feinstein, and/or the national "clean planet" organizations that I support in regards to chemtrails I am ignored?

How is it that it's not okay for Valero/Tesoro, our vehicles, & local industries to produce air pollutants, but it's acceptable for the chemtrail planes to do so?

Huh?

It's not permissible....and if you give a damn about your childrens' children, our non-two-legged relations, and the general health & well being of our planet...then you know this has to stop.....  And, in order for it to stop you have to raise your voice and be heard.  Take the time, make the call, write the letter, send the fax or e-mail:
