The insanity continues. "Health" officials in Miami continue to spray Naled, a neurotoxic pesticide, despite protests from residents and despite the fact that the EPA is considering a safer alternative.
Wolbachia-infected mosquitoes have been released in California to stop the spread of mosquito borne viruses such as Zika.
Wolbachia is considered safe for people and wildlife. It's also cheaper and has been used successfully.
So WHY is Naled, banned in the EU, still being sprayed on Miami residents without their consent?
WHAT'S WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?

If you haven't noticed by now, I am very passionately opposed to the nonconsensual chemical spraying of Miami Beach by Miami-Dade County.

If you haven't noticed by now, I am very passionately opposed to the nonconsensual chemical spraying of Miami Beach by Miami-Dade County.
The European Union banned Naled in 2012, despite the Department of Health claiming that it did not, and thousands of Miami Beach residents have now expressed their outrage over the decision to spray Naled and the apparent tacit approval by our city government.
As expected, I am hearing the predictable groans from some tone deaf elected officials that I'm just "playing politics."
I don't really know what that means, but the only people I ever hear use that term are usually the ones "playing politics."
Passion is not a game, nor is the health of Miami Beach residents. Indiscriminately blanketing the city with a neurotoxin without the permission of those below, simply to appear as "taking action," is not leadership. Falling in line with our County Mayor, who is in turn falling in line with our Governor, is also not leadership. Standing for what I and the informed residents of Miami Beach believe and feel...that what I am doing and will continue to do.
