PETITION: California Water Restrictions
MUST Include Big Ag, Big Oil and Nestlé!
But California Governor Brown's recent water restrictions are woefully inadequate.
Big agribusiness, oil interests and bottled water companies continue to deplete and pollute California's precious groundwater resources that are crucial for saving water.
It's clear that the severity of this drought calls for much more than just individual action.
SIGN THE PETITION: Governor Brown MUST take immediate action to rein in water-hogging industries like Big Ag, Big Oil and Nestlé.
PETITION
Action on Drought - Rein in Water Use by Big Ag, Big Oil and Bottled Water Companies!
California Governor Brown,
California is in a water crisis -- yet your recent water restrictions are inadequate.
While I support individual efforts to conserve, it's clear that the severity of this drought calls for much more than just individual action. It's time for you to take bold action to stop wasteful and unreasonable uses by corporate agriculture, oil interests and the bottled water industry.
1 - Big Ag:
Big agribusiness is over-pumping California's precious groundwater, especially the water-guzzling almond empire that has doubled in size in the driest part of the state over the last five years. But your mandate places little burden and no new restrictions on agriculture.
2 - Big Oil:
Not only does fracking and drilling use tens of millions of gallons of water a year, but the oil and gas industry has been dumping toxic waste water into California's aquifers. This toxic practice needs to end today.
3 - Bottled Water Companies:
While restaurants will only serve drinking water upon request, water bottling giants like Nestlé continue to suck the state dry.
California is in a time of great need. Please stand up to corporate interests to take real, meaningful action to save water.
