Being Mindful of those who are unable to speak for themselves; our Non-Two Legged Relations and the Future Generations.

It's about walking on the Canka Luta Waste Behind the Cannunpa and the ceremonies.

It's about Mindfulness and Respect. It's about Honesty and owning up to my foibles.

360: Elders' Meditation: June 14, 2008

Elder's Meditation of the Day - June 14 magnify

"The basis of knowledge is the fire, rock, water, and green. But when that power was given to man, he used it to twist his own mind. Tunkashila gave man just one drop of that wisdom."
--Wallace Black Elk, LAKOTA
All of Nature has the wisdom to follow the Natural Laws. All of Nature knows how to live in harmony and use this wisdom in a good way, with exception of the human being. Often we misuse this wisdom. Wisdom always remains with those who use it in the proper way. Nature has used this wisdom well, so now we need to go to Her so we humans can relearn and change our lives. May we start doing this today, before it is too late.
Creator, let me be open to the lessons that Nature can teach me.

"All the stones that are around here, each one has a language of its own. Even the earth has a song."
---- Wallace Black Elk, LAKOTA
To believe that every tree, plant and insect can talk takes an open mind. Go by yourself into nature and sit quietly. Then pick up a rock and listen to your thoughts. After a while, put that rock down and pick up another rock. Your thoughts will change. These are the voices and wisdom of the Stone People. Each one has different wisdom and they are willing to share their wisdom with you. Many of the Stone People are very old and very wise.
Great Spirit, let every rock and leaf be my teacher.

"...in Tunkashila, there is no time. Everything moves in the blink of an eye. It's as fast as thought. So there is no speed there. There is no time in between."
--Wallace Black Elk, LAKOTA
There is a relationship between thought and reality. Every thought is alive, and as soon as you think it a result occurs immediately. However, to make something happen it may take a series of 1,000 thoughts before you can actually see it with your eyes. This occurs because the Laws of the Great Spirit act immediately. When you tell a lie, you immediately experience fear. When you tell the truth, you immediately experience freedom. To the Creator, there is no time. For us to experience the meaning of this requires us to act on faith. Faith is belief without evidence.
Great Spirit, today, let me act on my faith.

360: Wallace Teachings: July 14, 2007

Wallace Teachings magnify
Well...it was a bit back then, when Wallace was still in his "robe" that he was explaining about his family's belief of heaven & hell.

So he was saying how when he was a child back out there on the Rosebud...back in the 20's they had it hard, and that the wasicu who dressed in black (priests) would tell the people how's if they didn't do what they were being told to do, how they'd be going to hell. But if they did what them wasicu directed and lived in the prescribed manner, why then they'd be going to heaven.

And then Grandpa would laugh his laugh..."huh huh huh" and say: "But they didn't know they didn't scare us, because we don't believe in no heaven or hell. We believe in Tunkashila."

So yeah he was a pretty cool Elder. He liked to call his self a "Dumb Indian", because he had no formal education. But, I'll tell you this, he was by far the most informed Being I have Ever met. It was because he listened to those Spirits all the time.

All I ever had to do was "think" at him, and he'd answer me; in a dream, in my head, or sometimes with actual words....he'd just start talking away to me.

I didn't get to learn as much as I might have, but I learned what I needed/was willing to at the time.

And I could talk to him about most anything, he was a Real Person, not someone to be "Worshiped" or even to be put up on a pedestal. Sure, to be respected...no doubt about that, but so many people forgot that he was like us too....and you could just sit & shoot the breeze! He could be really funny...had a great sense of humor!

I miss him in the physical sense, but I still hear him and know he's still with me...heck, he even sits in the back of my truck and sometimes goes to ceremony with me!

So it's like that!
