Musings on Love & Memory

I came upon this quote in a book I was reading, and it makes sense to me, especially when I look out upon the world and see all the broken hearted lonely people craving love and affection:

I am in and out of a "relationship" and have been for the past 7 years....I know what it is when he holds me, I know when he has kissed me, I Know the Love hiding therein is Real. I Know, I Feel it.

I also know that his hiding is Not about me. It's his own sense of lack, his own pain & misery.....I was not the one that helped to create it...but I am the one who is willing to help heal it. But again it is up to him to want to heal....it is his choice, not mine.

I know that we are all responsible for our own part in each of our relationships, we are all to blame, and the blame is shared...it takes two. But to heal a relationship, both people have to step up to the plate and make the effort, when one or the other refuses to take part in the healing, then there is but no choice to take a time out.

I am in a time out....I have not walked away...I can not say that I ever will. I can say, that I continue to live my life, I do make plans and stay busy...I go out with other people (men included) and I live my life to its fullest. If another comes along that makes my heart sing, so be it...I will cross that bridge when I come upon it.

I am not lonely, I am not broken hearted...I am sad, I carry my sadness within my heart, but I do not give up nor do I stop living and I continue with my life a much as possible. Occasionally I cry, but not very often, for I am not the one who is losing out on love. There is love in my life everyday and every way. I am surrounded by love, I give love and I receive love.

I keep the good times in mind and I give thanks for having the opportunity to have known that man. I will keep the memories for I know what love of a good man is...and if it is not to be with him, then I know what I need from another.

So, that's how it is....

Wal-Mart Update May 08, 2009

Dear Auntie Nanuuq,

Last week, I told you how 75 of my coworkers were going to Washington, D.C. to tell their elected officials about what it is really like to work at Wal-Mart. They didn't offer the warm and fuzzy images that Wal-Mart does when it lobbies Capitol Hill -- they told the truth.

It was a wonderful event. The workers held a press conference, they spoke with news crews, and they told their senators to pass the Employee Free Choice Act.

It's empowering to see Wal-Mart workers from all over the country finally starting to organize together -- and I'm proud of my coworkers for standing up and speaking out like I did a few weeks ago.

Now it is your turn. We all need to help make their message stronger.

Love: Elders' Meditation: April 18, 2009

"Women know more about love than men do...Love is taking. Love is sharing. Love is learning things about each other."

The Elders say Mother Earth shares Her special gifts of love with the Women. The Women know about bringing forth life and nurturing their offspring. Through this gift of love the Earth really makes the Woman special. Men should look upon the Woman with a Sacred Eye. She should be respected. The Woman is a role model for love. When the Woman talks, we should listen; when she shares, we should be grateful. We should all learn about each other.

Grandmother, teach me to love with the power of the Woman.


I like today's meditation. Mostly because it points out the true nature of women, and what we are capable of. What, maybe is forgotten about us...

I find, that are certain people that when I'm around that I really want to love...I really reach out to...Those that just being around causes my heart to open. I don't always know what to do with that, because there is that fear & knowing that once I leave...everything will go back to as it was before; the silence, the isolation, the feeling of being forgotten about, & the unfulfilled desire. And for sure that is anti-love and totally crazy-making.... hopefully one day very soon, we will find ourselves back in the arms of those that truly and deeply love & comfort us and for whom we feel the same.

EPA: Historic Steps to Cap Global Warming; April 18, 2009

In an historic decision moments ago, Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa Jackson issued a proposed ruling
that global warming pollution "endangers" Americans' health and
well-being.

Today's action sets the stage for using authority under the
Clean Air Act to establish national emission standards for large
global warming emitters.

EDF's deputy general counsel Vickie Patton says that with
today's announcement, "The U.S. is taking its first steps as a
nation to confront climate change. EPA's action is a wake
up-call for national policy solutions that secure our economic
and environmental future."

The EPA is now expected to begin developing national emission
standards for new motor vehicles and new coal-fired power
plants, the nation's two largest sources of global warming
pollution.

Today's action comes as Congress prepares to take its own
historic steps toward enacting a cap on global warming
pollution.

Next week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee will begin
hearings on comprehensive energy and climate legislation and
move quickly to a vote on the bill. Chairman Henry Waxman has
committed to moving the bill -- the American Clean Energy and
Security Act -- out of committee by Memorial Day.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she intends to bring the bill to
the House floor this year.

With EPA's decision as a backdrop, we will continue our all-out
campaign to pressure Congress to pass a cap on America's global
warming pollution as the most effective way to stop global
warming and unleash our clean energy future.
