Happiness the Grand Illusion

"......So often we ask, 'Are you happy?'
But is this the question we should be asking?
I can’t tell you the number of times I have seen the slogan on Facebook (paraphrased): 'If someone doesn’t make you happy, let them go.'
Do we ever consider: 'If someone doesn’t make you happy, maybe there is something in you that needs reckoning.'
Or, 'If someone doesn’t make you happy, buck up because they need your loving kindness?'...."

Happiness - The Grand Illusion

My Response: Thoughts: Belief

I believe we make ourselves "happy".... That is our own responsibility.

I also believe that "Happiness" is the right side of the scale and sadness is the left.... So there is that constant imbalance while attempting balance.

That being said for my own self: Contentment is the balancing point.

So then, when I was unhappy, I had to take the time & look/discover why? Was it my own self? Was it outside of me?

If it had to do with a relationship: I have to look very carefully at the players and the expectations; Society teaches us to "expect Ecstatic, Romantic, Warm Fuzzy, Always Happy" Love & feelings in a relationship.

But that is a very false perception and can at times be very damaging, especially when we do not love, honor, or respect our self.

That's when we look for those things to be provided from other people, and we have all known the disappointment from those expectations.

I believe (from my own experience) that a major part of "Happiness" is having an Attitude of Gratitude, no matter the circumstances.

The more we show Creator that we are thankful for our life, the more content we will be; as it is form of "self-talk" & "affirmation", which the Universe responds to.

I like to give thanks upon waking, throughout the day, and before I sleep.....

At one time for about 2-3 years; every night I'd write down 3-5 things that I was grateful for during my day before I went to sleep..... Sometimes it was as simple as my cat (Bud), a piece of chocolate, or the Hawk.

Doing that reprogrammed my inner self & thoughts as I fell asleep and carried over to the morning. The more I continued w/ the practice of the Awareness of the Goodness, the happier I became.

So, "Happiness" is fleeting, but preserving & living an Attitude of Gratitude will make life Content & Comfortable.....
