WARNING: eBay: Phillipines... Customer Service : Non-Existent

I just had a major problem w/ a Buyer & eBay.... I have spent two days & several hours on the phone w/ eBay Philippines (not eBay HQ in San Jose, which I believed I was  calling).

eBay gave me the option of listing an item w/ "No Refunds", which I chose because the item was refurbished & had a manufacturer's warranty....

The buyer, did not read the operating instructions and placed a claim against me.....

I responded to the buyer w/ the Operating Instructions and links to the; Manufacturer's instruction manual, manufacturer's help/support pages, and two videos of operation instructions....  All of which the buyer ignored.

Even though the item returned to me is in perfect working condition (except the buyer removed  the manufacturer's instruction labels); eBay found for the Buyer, "There is a contradiction, between what the buyer says and what you say, so we choose for the buyer" and eBay Philippines refused to consider the buyer's refusal to respond to me and the fact that the item is in perfect working condition and that the buyer was unwilling/unable to follow operating instructions.

Even though eBay gives the seller an option & I chose: "Seller Does Not Accept Returns"  (under manufacturer's warranty)...  eBay, Philippines, tells me there is an eBay "Money Back Guarantee" and that as a seller I do NOT have any option whether or not I accept returns.....  eBay Philippines  also told me they are not going to remove the "No Returns" option from their listing.

Then eBay Philippines told me, "you didn't sign up for the eBay 'Sellers' Protection Plan' "......  "You have to sign sign up if you want to be protected!"  I told them this should be automatic.....

eBay Philippines also did not want to return my selling commission, even though they were reimbursed for the entire seller's payment. I was told: "You sold the item"... but I lost the sale, which eBay Philippines argued about.  I finally got my commission refunded.

After much argument; eBay Philippines finally gave me a generic address in the U.S. I can write to, but refused to give me the name of the person I need to file the claim with.

I have since closed out my Seller's account which I have had since 2002, without 1 single problem & 100% positive feedback, which apparently counts for NOTHING!

What recourse do I have when I am cheated by a buyer and eBay Philippines refuses to acknowledge & validate my case?

  1. OMG..... Finally, eBay issues resolved, by speaking to a customer service rep., Jordan, in the U.S.
eBay Philippines reimbursed a buyer for Buyer's Remorse, they want to be repaid... Ok.

Paypal paid me, Paypal was reimbursed, but they have not paid eBay....

eBay want to send me to collections......

I called Paypal, get the Philippines (AGAIN), she won't talk to me & gives me eBay Philippines, she won't talk to me and passes the call to Jordan in the U.S.

    BINGO! Jordan "gets it".....

    He gives me a few "secrets" as a seller (Do's & Don't's)...

He goes through the entire case and sees that the buyer refused to respond to my inquiries.....

Jordan also knows that the buyer didn't read or follow operating instructions, and agrees that Philippines girls had no clue what was going on & made the in correct decision...

Jordan files an "appeal" on my behalf, and then he finds in my favor.....

By this time I'm in tears of major relief, that someone understands what is going on!

I get my money back from eBay..... and I speak w/ Ross, Jordan's supervisor, and I tell him how great Jordan is & thank them both for taking the time to review the case and understanding....

Whew, perseverance and speaking to the right people pays off...
